Akasaka Tameike Tower has achieved an outstanding earthquake-resistance performance by combining CFT columns and two types of shaking control.
CFT pillars are hybrid pillars made by filling steel-pipe pillars with concrete.
The combination of the advantages of compression-resistant concrete and a tension-resistant steel frame has created this highly durable and highly rigid structural material that is excellent for its resistance to deformation.
For shaking control, unbound brace dampers and viscoelastic brace dampers are incorporated into the walls themselves to absorb quake energy.
These two different types of shaking control systems help reduce shaking to the minimum possible, to ensure highly comfortable habitability.
Safety with Vibration-Control construction
Visco-elastic brace dampers are effective across a wide range of shock and vibration, from small tremors caused by strong winds and small or medium-sized earthquakes to major tremors. To further increase residents’ peace of mind, emergency power generators, wells, toilets, and supplies are all provided against the possibility of a serious emergency.
Seismic damping walls have a highly flexible, viscous core injected into a steel plate box structure. When the independent steel plates within it move, the core provides resistance, while the oil damper absorbs the energy of seismic waves, to reduce vibration. These walls are effective against wind-induced vibration as well, further enhancing building safety and comfort.
