Moiwa Ski Resort: Grand Plans
Moiwa Ski Resort occupies the southern face of Mt Moiwa and is the western neighbour of Mt Annupuri, the location of the four resorts of Niseko United.
With the vast majority of visiting skiers making use of the Niseko United resorts, Moiwa Ski Resort has a reputation for untouched powder runs and is a favourite for locals wanting to escape the crowds.
Recently extensive plans to redevelop the one-resort mountain resort have been announced, opening the area to more families, first-time skiers as well as backcountry lovers and powder hunters, whilst also respecting the existing atmosphere.
The comprehensive mountain-wide masterplan will transform the resort into an all-seasons family adventure park, and massively increase the scope of its lift-accessible skiing terrain.
A new network of lifts and gondolas will replace the current lift and extend the current reach to the peak. Potential future plans could also include a new lift connecting the top of Mt Moiwa to the west face of Mt Annupuri.
These are truly exciting times for the area and Moiwa is poised to become a high-end family-friendly resort, with year-round activities, unlike any other.
