STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO RENTING AN APARTMENT IN TOKYO
STEP 1
Make a list of requirements for your new apartment or house in Tokyo and start house hunting about 2 months before your desired move in-date.
STEP 2
The Tokyo market moves quickly, it is better to view your favorite places as soon as possible. Based on your top choices, our agents will arrange viewings for you.
STEP 3
After you decide, our agent will make the application on your behalf. This includes a bid for the rent, desired move—in date, and any other requests you may have.
STEP 4
After both parties have agreed on the rent and terms, the owner will send a draft of the contract to you or your company. The contract will normally be for 2 years.
STEP 5
On the move-in date you will receive the keys from our agent and be welcomed to your new home. At this time, you should ask the owner to make a note of any existing damage (if any) so that you will not be responsible to pay when you move out.
STEP 6
Throughout your time in an apartment from Housing Japan, our agents will be able to assist you with any issues that may occur. If you need assistance or have a maintenance requirement, then please call us right away.
