Roppongi Hills Residence B Minato, Tokyo

Roppongi Hills Residence B (六本木ヒルズレジデンスB棟) is a 333-unit residential tower at 6-12-2 Roppongi, Minato-ku, developed by Mori Building as part of the Roppongi Hills complex. Completed in April 2003, it has 43 floors above ground and two basement levels. Of the four Roppongi Hills Residences, B and C are the two 43-storey towers.

*The building*
The frame is steel-reinforced concrete with concrete-filled steel tube (CFT) columns, and viscous damping walls absorb earthquake energy. Mori Building and Nikken Housing System were the architects, and a joint venture of Toda Corporation and Fujita Corporation built it. Conran and Partners, supervised by Sir Terence Conran, designed the exterior and common areas of Residences B and C, with facades in limestone, terracotta tile and blue tile. The 159.1 m tower has 58,575 m² of floor area and shops on its lower levels, and shares a 16,649.47 m² site with Residences A, C and D.

*Services and shared facilities*
Mori Building manages he tower, with a bilingual front desk staffed 24 hours a day. Doormen, porters and room service are limited to Residences B and C, and housekeeping and laundry can be arranged, some at extra cost. Guest rooms and the Sky Lounge, a 300 m² two-level space with a bar, kitchen and roof terrace, bookable for ta fee, are on the 42nd and 43rd floors. Residents also share a rooftop garden and community room. English-speaking nurses staff the health consultation room around the clock, by appointment, supported by doctors at The Jikei University Hospital. Roppongi Hills Spa, with a pool and gym, is on the 3rd to 5th floors of Residence C and needs a separate membership and fees. Up to two cats or dogs may be kept, subject to building rules.

G2 Design Studio designed the apartment interiors. Recorded units range from a 31 m² studio to three-bedroom homes of around 150 m², mostly in 1LDK, 2LDK and 3LDK layouts.

*Location and access*
Roppongi Station is an 8-minute walk for the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and a 10-minute walk for the Toei Oedo Line. Azabu-Juban Station (Namboku and Oedo lines) is also a 10-minute walk, and Nogizaka Station (Chiyoda Line) a 13-minute walk. Sakurazaka Park is a 1-minute walk, Grand Hyatt Tokyo three minutes, and a My Basket supermarket and the Mori Art Museum four minutes each. The American School in Japan’s Early Learning Center is inside Roppongi Hills.
